Submitted by on August 28, 2009 – 2:11 pm4 Comments

Scott Jordan, ScotteVestShow Overview

On episode 8 of Wealth Nation, we’re introducing a new segment called Spotlight on Success, where we focus on one entrepreneur or successful businessman and find out why they’re successful. What choices did they make that got them to where they are? What are the challenges they’ve faced when beginning their company or during the growing process? Having been there and done that, what do they suggest other entrepreneurs do?

Show Notes

We’re starting with a well known entrepreneur, Scott Jordan from ScotteVest. ScotteVest makes Technology Enabled Clothing (TEC) meant to hold electronics without looking bulky. They also incorporate the ability to route your wires through the jacket so you don’t have earphone wires hanging out and getting caught on door handles. Scott started ScotteVest when he was unhappy with his job and has built it into a successful, profitable company with a great reputation.

John, Cali and Neal talk to Scott about the beginning of ScotteVest, how he funded it and how he’s hiring less people in favor of using technology and contractors outside of the company to get work done.  We take a look at his distribution model, discuss how much effort entrepreneurs tend to put into their own companies, and talk in detail about the biggest challenge he’s faced when having to defend his trademark.

Check out the ScotteVest website at ScotteVest.com. You can follow Scott Jordan on Twitter and Facebook, or watch him live on Stickam while he’s hard at work building and maintaining his business.
